Artist's Comments

The full title is: "But a man, my lady, is always afraid of the woman who loves him too much". It's a quote from Bertolt Brecht's and Kurt Weil's "Threepenny Opera", Act III.

The image is a tribute to Brecht (who appears in the photo on the background, smoking a cigar) for an upcoming book remembering the culture of the Weimar Republic, which produced characters such as Brecht, Rainer Maria Rilke or Walter Benjamin. Those not familiar with Brecht's poetry are missing a great experience.

Then onto the Hollywood Freeway, and straight on into frantic oblivion. Safety. Obscurity. Just another freak, in the freak kingdom.
